KENT V LION CUBS, PREVIEW

LEICESTER’S National Development League side are also in action on Tuesday as their match at Kent goes ahead as planned (6.30pm).

It’s far from an ideal situation as the Roger Webster Lion Cubs must race at Central Park without Dan and Joe Thompson, who are required for senior duty with the Lions.

The Royals have suffered extensive fixture congestion in the closing weeks of the season, and there are no alternative dates to stage the meeting.

It means boss Dave Howard must use two guests, at least one of which must be ‘unattached’ as well as the rider-replacement facility with Joe Lawlor having retired earlier in the summer.

The Cubs will operate R/R at No.1 for Dan Thompson, with former Kent riders Luke Harris and Dano Verge stepping into the No.4 and No.5 positions respectively. Tom Spencer will take over as captain for the night.

Howard said: “Between 10pm on Saturday and 8am on Monday I looked at more than ten potential riders to guest for Dan in the No.1 position – however for various different, all very understandable reasons, they were all unavailable for Tuesday at Kent.

“Big thanks go to Luke and Danno for stepping into the spots of Joe Lawlor and Joe Thompson respectively at short notice, which is very much appreciated.”

KENT: Dan Gilkes, Vinnie Foord, Ben Morley, Alex Spooner, Jake Mulford, Josh Warren, Jacob Clouting.

LEICESTER: Dan Thompson R/R, Ben Trigger, Tom Spencer, Luke Harris, Danno Verge, Kai Ward, Mickie Simpson.
